About Me

I am Paul Barker, Yorkshire born and bred, spending most of my childhood in the City of York. At the age of 13 my family moved to Suffolk. I have now returned to my Yorkshire roots to continue to develop my plastering business here.

I have over 20 years experience in the building trade specialising in plaster finishes, arches, coving and plaster mouldings. I undertake jobs both small and large to ensure I always provide a complete service.

I also have extensive knowledge and experience of plaster restoration and overskimmimg walls and ceilings. (Gallery 8 and 9 show finished restoration work, undertaken by myself on The Grange, a grade II listed building)

I have experience in domestic work and new construction. I have also worked in larger commercial properties, mostly hotels. (Gallery 2 3 shows a 3 month installation of some ¾ mile of cornice to Notleys Night Club).  I am happy to work on small areas from brick, but exclude large areas of rendering. I also undertake small areas of overboarding and dry lining.

I have extensive knowledge of Artex, both installation and overskimming. I had a book published on the subject of “Artex and Coving” which was endorsed by the manufacturers of Artex. Most of the current demand is to go over artex. For those who still want textured ceilings I can provide exclusive patterns or simply repairs to existing Artex.

Currently I am predominantly occupied with domestic work. Being a “one man band” enables me to provide consistent quality. Domestic work also offers me the opportunity to work on varied projects and have contact with many people. I have very high standards and provide a professional service which is reflected in my testimonials.

For those of you wondering, a question often asked. “What has the duck to do with plastering?” Well nothing! He is just my logo, his name is Desmond!

Thank you for taking the time to read my web site and I hope to meet you soon.

Paul
